33 1/3

33 1/3 The Singers Since everything is getting knotted nicely together now I might as well correlate the name of the third mysterious chandrian danger ‘the singers‘ to this Aleph meeting just to really stir matters up further. The singers are neither the Amyr nor the Sithe but must have been present here too by default to be recognised as a third important threat by the Chandrian since this is where all the new god given powers were being allocated once and for all. I will suggest that we have already met the final members of group3 when I point out that Tehlu’s army of angels were also given their wings at this very same meeting for a specific task which was considered less extreme than that of the Amyr and Sithe when they were touched by Aleph and had their long names changed by him. ‘They came to Aleph, and he touched them. The touched their hands and eyes and hearts. The last time he touched them there was pain, and wings tore from their backs that they might go where they wished… ...

Demon Daze

2 ~ Demon Daze The Dark ages. There is a big hole in our history of Temerant where nothing happened, or rather nothing was written about it, until now. This is not a good time for the world and not a good time for tinfoil as almost everything here is supposition with only a few hints to eek things out with. It is not my best work, but it’s all I’ve got, that’s not to say I’m incorrect though. No triangles were hurt in the writing of this chapter. We need another lucky number to get us through here. #7. Chaen means seven. Ben says that this is a word from the language Temic, which predates Tema by about a thousand years, vague dates from long ago. It marks the seventh day in the language of the land like the earlier numbers were given to the first six. If you have to count things in numbers then that is as good a place to end the counting as any other. Seven is a lucky number as it remembers the one city to survive the fall of Ergen and that is why we celebrate on Caenin. The common peo...

Pease Pudding

Pease Pudding Ҩ This is a story of Felurian. Lady of Twilight. Lady of the First Quiet. Felurian, who is death to men. Where to start? So much to consider Her name? Her song? Her magic? perhaps her titles! Words that tell us what she actually is. Words that we can work with? Yes, minds over hearts it is. A. Lady of Twilight is easy. This is colour of the sky where she lives. She can go wherever she wants to of course, even to mortal, but she is the undisputed boss of the twilight zone. She is famous and immortal and very dangerous. B. Lady of the First Quiet is more interesting. You could break it down in many ways, not least by suggesting that the first letter of her sentences is almost always written quietly in lower case. But I’m more drawn towards two of the definitions given in my Terran Dictionary for first and quiet, namely ‘Before all others ~ Peace‘ and if she was there on day one to witness the creation of the twilit Fae as we know it, that means she was a founding faerie. Bu...

Ook

OOK The Cthaendrian. Cthaeh says we should really call the chandrian the Seven instead and the Adem list names them as Cyphus, Stercus, Ferule, Usnea, Grey Dalcenti, Pale Alenta and the Lord of Seven himself, Alaxel whom we also know as Lord (Haliax/Lanre) …which actually gives us seven and a bit, give or take a Lanre. The mystery potential eighth chandrian member who remembered the lethani I strongly suspect as being Lord Illien of Tinusa and that each one of these city Lords or Ladies was fully expected to each betray their own city to the enemy on this fateful night, one city each. ‘Since not by strength could the enemy win he* moved like a worm in fruit. The enemy was not of the Lethani. He poisoned seven others against the empire and they forgot the Lethani. Six of them betrayed the cities that trusted them. Now Lanre was also once the Lord of Belen, a city that trusted him above all others to keep them safe, indeed it is written of the seven cities...

Black and White

Black & White Black and White This is my doom upon you. May your face be always held in shadow. Your own name shall be turned against you, that you shall have no peace. Selitos said those words when he was talking to Lanre, therefore Lanre is most certainly a man who has now lost his own visual identity and instead wears this curse like a hooded cloak. But Lanre has just told us that he is no longer who we think is and that he has a new and terrible name, ‘Haliax’. So who is it really hiding beneath the shadows hame? and is his true name Alaxel? Where does Encanis fit into things? Or Tarsus for that matter? And who is this Taborlin the Great to sport a similar ‘cloak of no particular colour’? These are difficult questions… but I think I have it down now :0) Let us start at the beginning with our original man Lanre. The cloak he has just been fitted for is only really there for visual effect and nothing more since he has already declared that no door can bar his passing, this revela...

Pea Soup

Pea Soup 9/10ths of the Law Possession is all about control. We know that skin dancers exist, we see people manipulated, we see people mastered by others, we even have an exorcism. Now I’m no priest, I’m more tubular in my appreciation of Bell, Book and Candle, but we do need to try and understand a bit about possession. It appears to be all about naming and name changing, binding and unbinding. Even though I can’t see the way yet myself, I’ll have a go and see what comes out the other end. Pea soup probably. VII Elodin insists that there are Seven words that will make a person love you, and Ten words that will break a strong mans’s will. If this is true then this is actually possession. It is making somebody else do something, no matter how long it lasts for, directly through the power of your will, your words and the lethani. You might think that saying seven words to make somebody love you is a sweet and lovely thing but it is not. Its possession. It is exerting your will upon anoth...

Lanre

String3~Lanre No Particular Colour. Information about the chandrian is virtually non-existent. An amateur Vintish historian’s two hundred year old work A Quainte Compendium of Folke Belief is the best that Kvothe finds, a hand-written octavo which shows us that it has not been tampered with. It is probably the source of Kote’s song about the white riders from in the second book, but of the Chaendrian the authors extensive research reveals nothing. It is interesting though that his most earnest rebuttal of folk revealing anything chandrian came at the Towne of Hillesborrow, which sounds awfully similar to Borrorill if you think about it. Hmmm… His lack of findings has a parallel with Alveron’s fruitless searching for the Amyr, and Denna’s research into Lanre. There is nothing written anywhere in any book about matters this secret and ancient. Their combined search results tell us that Kvothe should give up on his own efforts because others have looked already on our collective behalf. I...
