About the author

in a fantasy world you have to believe in magic, and not in coincidence. I believe in fairies.


I live on my boat, life afloat. I am a bargee traveller, which offers the best opportunity to watch the shape of the world. I cross the country chasing the wind going with the flow as subtle as chimney smoke and I’m the closest thing to the edema ruh you will ever know. As I go I see more and speak less, think more and care less. The great game is a thing of beauty when you play for the game not the end. Tak masters will know the feeling well.

These books are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Such beauty attracts adoration. Such is they way of things. They have a magic about them that calls to many and much has been written about them.

It is not a competition, nobody wins a dance…

But! (And nothing good ever comes after But) it’s a fact of life that i the best there’s ever been.

I have crossed swords with Crosswords. I can translate Temerant, names fall apart in my hands and all the numbers can dance to my tune. Given time and good light I can see around corners and through walls. Valaritas.


They say that if you give an infinite number of monkeys an infinite amount of typewriters and an infinite amount of time, they could eventually write Hamlet. I prefer fantasy fiction, and this is high fantasy.


My name is Matty Tangle. I live on a boat on a canal in England with assorted cats and snails. This is an extrapolation of Temerant, a series of studies on the literary creations of Patrick Rothfuss.

PubCrawl The Rising Sun. On the wall in Pat’s office there must be a map of the Waystone Inn since all of the individual mentions of the pubs layout correlate perfectly with each other and thus to this master architects blueprint. It is a device used by the writer so that he doesn’t get confused one day and accidently have someone go through a door that isn’t there or have the sun rising in the West. The Sun of Temerant rises in the East, just like in our world, although that was a very small crumb to finally track down in a very big book. It wasn't much of a church to begin with, but then Newarre wasn't much of a town. The Edge of the Map

The Edge of the Map Holes ‘Maps don’t just have outside edges. They have inside edges. Holes’ When our crew of bandit hunters are sent into the Eld, they have at least seen a map of the place. Pat is nothing but precise in all things though, and he has again left us with just enough clues to work out the crew’s movements with some confidence, and the results can be used to construct a map of our own which may help to patch a few holes in the text and also fill in some holes in our Temerant history. The numbering is a bit tricky at times but overall, it does come nicely together. For best results use a sheet of A4 squared paper. The Pennysworth Inn is the beginning and end point of our journey and is going to define two edges of our latest map.
