Maydays 

It's that time of year again and all things important are moving apace now. Summer has come early to England ( hottest mayday on record) life is good and it's time to check in with a few words about the shape of the world.
Trump has just done his second first 100 days and it's been so much worse than most folk imagined possible. The changes he is bringing are unpresidented and he's only just begun rocking the free world in many, many ways, mostly financially. He's departed from the WHO and USAID among others which was a bold statement of intent. He has antagonised nearly every other world leader , either personally or with his new tariffs, and on top of that he is playing silly buggers with his countries borders. All under the banner of Make (north) America Great Again. Liberation Day just marked the kick off of the Trade Wars and the game is now afoot with China taking the first blows. Famine is too strong a word for shortages but it's a beginning and it will be interesting to see how that arc evolves now that an artery has been severed. Change is coming in lots of ways. His budget plans are to slash health, science and the environment whilst increasing spending on defence and homeland security. If you put all that (and so much more, don't mention the war) into one pile and call it data, can you see which ways all it's little arrows are pointing? It's pointing towards a future of American isolation and self reliance. As The Times are a changing so is the USA. It is changing course and downsizing away from global domination and towards continental domination forcing America First policy on everyone else whether we like it or not.

So where will it all end? Well my map leads to Martial Law in 2027. How long before dictator Trump takes that path ? To think of an answer you first have to acknowledge the existence a white house master plan mapping out exactly where Trump* wants the USA** to be in 4*** years time. Well assuming that he somehow gets everything he wants and achieves all of his crazy sounding desires, (the ones announced so far And the new ones yet to surface!) then whatever that turns the America of the future into should, in theory, be exactly what this current masterplan has predicted.
* WWV will outlast Trump. He's not getting any younger and has already had one assassination attempt. Either way his days are numbered but his masters control all the pieces and another pawn will be promoted. ** USNeA. *** "You'll never have to vote again" is a famous Trump soundbite and in order for that statement to become true would require either a change to the constitution or Martial Law and probably both. Don't put it past him. I give you two more years tops until Trumps great announcement. 

Borderlands 

By turning Canada into the 51st state America is basically saying that it also wants to increase the size of the USA footprint. Making this desire come true might seem unlikely today but he is serious about this and it's interesting to note that without Trump's interference Carney would never have won last night's Canadian election. The same might be said about Australia showing the global influence this man has. He holds lots of cards. Trump also wants Greenland which would I presume become state52 and If he only manages that wish, Canada will suddenly become the meat in a trump sandwich.  If you then factor in the Panama Canal as being state 53 then the gulf of America as 54 becomes more acceptable to the Atlases of the future. This Atlas will suggest an obvious final step of bullying Mexico's into becoming  55th state of a new North American Alliance , or USNeA since New Americans will still want  cocaine and tequila. 
That's a lot of landmass which will be important in a future where the dollar is dead and natural resources are the new global currency.
He is carving the rotw into USfriends and USenemies and you will either be with him or against him, the choice is yours. Brexit Britain is of course no longer part of the EU and thus can receive a different tarriff treatment from our EU neighbours. Fagash's Reform party are starting to challenge caretaker Kier and the UK's eventual role in the near future events is  uncertain. Peacekeeping in Ukraine? I don't think so Keith.
When Trump's masterplan comes together then the Continent of North America will become a very different place on future maps with a whole quadrant of the globe under one flag so that when the time comes, USNeA will have the biggest stockpile of raw materials available to build underground bunker cities or space arks or whatever is needed to face what comes next as best prepared as possible.

What comes next is the great announcement which will basically admit that our planet is out of control. Global warming is rising exponentially and that the end of the world is nigh. But DON'T PANIC. Captain America has a plan...
This speech will cement Trumps legacy in the annals of history as the apocalypse president. 

America First in action won't necessarily be bad for All Americans as markets thrive on chaos, but only if you have the right cards.

In other news, The Pope died at Easter and I wonder if the conclave might elect a new one who will really put the cat among the pigeons and come straight out with a statement acknowledging that the time of revelation is upon us and that the final battle to apocalypse is coming. I can't really see that possibility happening but the bible is his department after all. Getting everyone else on the planet to accept any such announcement concerning this inconvenient truth will be, of course, impossible. Half the world will accept there is nothing now that we can do, half the world will deny it say we still have time to do something and the third half of the world will just riot.

The argument will arise that since just stopping oil will not put the horse back in the stable now, we might as well continue to drill baby drill since it will now make no difference to the outcome anyway. The only way to win in this era of despair is to build a better bunker and to wait for lots of (other) people to die until the global population falls to a figure that has more sustainable needs. Less people use less resources = less pollution by numbers so given enough time a new balance will be restored.  Eventually nature will wrest back control , the planet will heal and and the decimated remnants of mankind can emerge from their assorted bunkers and begin all over again, older and wiser. That's the plan anyway. Enjoy.

Ok. Onto other news and two things caught my attention this busy week that I feel worthy of inclusion. The first was a mahoosive unexplained power drain in the Iberian peninsula where they suddenly 'lost' 15GW of power in five seconds which is enough to send a dozen deloreons back to the future. Now nobody knows what caused it but speculation is rife with many people suspecting a cyber attack. I did read an interesting theory about extreme weather conditions affecting the electricity pylons which would make it collapse news. I don't think that mere humans have the ability to have been responsible this time as the coverage area was too widespread for one common fault and the linkage isn't strong enough to hit a whole peninsula. It was suddenly everything off all at once until it wasn't any more. That's supervillain level stuff. Not being any kind of scientist I have invented my own tinfoil thought of our sun being the cause of this anomaly with our local star somehow zapping us with some invisible magneto radiation photon thingy. Since it happened at midday, when the sun is directly overhead, Iberia might well have been the Earth's nearest point to the sun at that moment putting it at the very front of the photon arrow travelling on a straight line between the heart of the sun and the centre of the earth. If it was a photon it should have passed right through us and out the other side meaning it should have exited again somewhere in the Pacific ocean off the coast of New Zealand. 

On a more serious note , I have good reason to pay attention to the globe during the first week of May and this time last year I wrote a few lines  about a noteworthy may3 earthquake of 7.3 out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Well guess what? This years anniversary saw a near identical 7.2 quake in another unusual location, down and away between South America and Antarctica. Where the Pacific meets the Atlantic. Very coincidental behaviour imho. Plotting these two points with a globe and bisecting gives a point pretty centroid to the South Atlantic Anomaly and therefore current favourite for the site of next south pole. Now if I know my onions we can use this may3 quake information to triangulate coordinates and predict an incoming major earthquake for may3 2026 one possibility for a NW viewpoint might be up near Ecuador ways but I prefer the South Atlantic option which gives us  coordinates for somewhere off the coast of South Africa where two more oceans collide, the Atlantic and Indian. That would make for an impressive tsunami warning and that is where I'm placing today's jot. Watch this space.Space is Big.

PubCrawl The Rising Sun. On the wall in Pat’s office there must be a map of the Waystone Inn since all of the individual mentions of the pubs layout correlate perfectly with each other and thus to this master architects blueprint. It is a device used by the writer so that he doesn’t get confused one day and accidently have someone go through a door that isn’t there or have the sun rising in the West. The Sun of Temerant rises in the East, just like in our world, although that was a very small crumb to finally track down in a very big book. The Edge of the Map

The Edge of the Map Holes ‘Maps don’t just have outside edges. They have inside edges. Holes’ When our crew of bandit hunters are sent into the Eld, they have at least seen a map of the place. Pat is nothing but precise in all things though, and he has again left us with just enough clues to work out the crew’s movements with some confidence, and the results can be used to construct a map of our own which may help to patch a few holes in the text and also fill in some holes in our Temerant history. The numbering is a bit tricky at times but overall, it does come nicely together. For best results use a sheet of A4 squared paper. The Pennysworth Inn is the beginning and end point of our journey and is going to define two edges of our latest map.
