darkhouse
Darkhouse is imho the most interesting aspect of the undething. Whilst all the layers that combine to create Belen are horizontal, Darkhouse is a vertical space.
Rotunda.

Clinks is private. No rot or foulness. Clear water at the water table. The steps once went lower ...
In srost, we are told Auri was in her own nest of rooms on Sub 1 looking for suitable bottles. Not finding one she walked through a doorway before she 'twisted up through withy'. Which I assume to be like wooden scaffolding or tree even which allows her to rise closer to the surface. This path should take her up to the top of the underthing where she can also gain access to our Darkhouse staircase. 'she took the spiralling stairs through Darkhouse, down and around, down and around. ' before she finally crossed the threshold into Clinks at the bottom
It is then a large spiral staircase which she can access on certain floors. Perhaps only a few levels remain accessible, 1 and 5 seem to be that answer. Perhaps 3 is blocked off . and so was once upon a time, a tower. It's windows, if they existed, would have been bricked up and buried today, making this a dark house indeed. It may have once risen even higher but even at seven stories it was certainly a very prominent feature of the old city.
Now Auri is wise and names things for a reason. Darkhouse is what it is now, but the opposite of that word would be Lighthouse, and we all know what one of them is. It's a beacon that can be seen from afar.
My theory is that back in the days of Ergen, this tower would have been the focal point of the whole city. And if Lord Selitos lived in the tallest tower of Myr T, why then shouldn't Lady Lyra of Belen have done the same.
This thinking would actually make them both lighthousekeepers. Trusted to tend a sacred flame perhaps, or should that be beacon to be only lit when Gondor calls for aid.
Perhaps it housed a special light.
If we have two towers, why not eight?
Eight white towers crossing the land with Eight lighthouse keepers to keep the home fires burning.
Eight candles kept alight by their alar to keep the darkness at bay.
What would be the point of such a thing idk but I like the way this thread is pointing. Imagine a battle where the enemy subverted all of these towers and caused all these tower flames to gutter. Without the beacons as a guide perhaps the moon lost her landing lights, her tethers, her anchors...
When a candle is snuffed, its flame becomes a pillar of smoke

Are they all the same? Well no, probably not.
Myr T was white. That much is written. But this white lighthouse fell into shadow. SARUMAN tells us that the white light can be broken. Gandalf replies that then it is no longer white.
The usual way break white light is with a prism, through which it becomes a spectrum. Showing whites component parts
7 colours and one colour
7 cities and one city.
Qed each city held a piece of the whole, ROYGBIV.
And the flame in Belen burned Red.
An ever burning lamp, perhaps held to be by the Alar of Lyra... Or maybe Scyphus who now bears the blue flame instead.
